A lot of people tell me, “Mark, you’re a cheapskate.”

I guess that comes from a lifetime of working hard to make ends meet – just like folks all over mid-Michigan are doing every day. I’ve gone through layoffs and tough times as I raised my family, so I know what it means to earn every dollar and stretch it as far as it can go.

Politicians in Lansing don’t understand this at all. They are addicted to wasteful spending and do nothing but bicker and take vacations while our jobs get outsourced, our neighbors lose their homes, our young people leave the state, and our seniors struggle instead of enjoying the retirement they deserve.

We deserve better!

We need a leaner, more efficient state government that lives within its means instead of raising our taxes. I will work across the aisle to stop wasteful spending and focus on what really matters: creating and protecting jobs, keeping our families safe, protecting our natural resources, and making sure our kids get a world-class education.

I won’t work for any political party or any special interest group. I will work for us – the people of mid-Michigan. I hope you will join me in taking back our state government and making it work for us.
